Suhaimah is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “little arrow”, it comes from sahm, which means “arrow” (the pointed piece of wood that is shot from a bow, used in hunting and in war). It is an ancient Arabic name for girls and the name of a number of Sahabiyaat (pious women who lived at the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his companions), such as Suhaimah bint Aslam bint Huraysh bint Udayy, Suhaimah bint Masud bint Aws and Suhaimah bint Umair al-Ansariyya.
