Sameera (with the stress on the second syllable: -mee-) is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “good friend”. It’s literal meaning is “night conversation companion”, someone who stays up long into the night speaking with friends. It is derived from the S-M-R root which is used in the Quran in verse 23:67.
