Qesiym is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “one who shares/distributes something among people”, “giver”, “generous”, “handsome”. It was the name of one of the sons of Prophet Muhammad, and from it comes one of the famous nicknames of the Prophet: Abul Qesiym (“father of Qesiym”), peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his family and companions. Qesiym is derived from the Q-S-M root which is used in many places in the Quran.
