Mowsaa is a direct Quranic name for boys that comes from non-Arabic origins. It is common among Muslims out of love for Prophet Mowsaa (Moses). According to the Jewish Roman scholar Josephus the name comes from ancient Egyptian origins, derived from mo (water) and uses (to save), forming the meaning âsaved from the waterâ, since when Prophet Mowsaa was an infant his mother put him in the river, which carried him to the Egyptian Pharaohâs lands, where he was found and saved.
