Hoore (also spelled in English dictionaries as Houri) is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means âsplendid companion of Paradiseâ, âlovely-eyedâ, âwith modest gazeâ, and in general use it means âextremely beautifulâ. Hoore is the Persian and Turkish way of referring to the companions of Paradise, which is the shortened form of the Arabic word Hooreyah. It is derived from the H6-W-R root which is used in a number of places in the Quran.
