Farangis is a Persian name for girls. It is the name of a character in the Shahnameh epic, who was the daughter of Afrasiab and was engaged to Siyavash. The name could formed from Far (Persian for âgloryâ, âhonorâ, âgreatnessâ) and angis (possibly a variant of angiz, which means âone who brings something aboutâ, âone who causes and motivatesâ), thus the full meaning would be âbringer of gloryâ, âcause for greatnessâ. But this is speculative, we cannot find any authentic sources for the original meaning of this ancient name.
