Eysmet is the Turkish pronunciation of the Arabic word ismah. It is an indirect Quranic name for boys and girls that means “highness”, “majesty”, “purity from sin”. In the Ayyubid era Isma used to be a title for noblewomen, such as Eysmet ad-Deen Khatun, wife of Saladin. Eysmet is derived from the AIN-SAD-M root which is used in a number of places in the Quran.
