Azra is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “virgin”, and it is also one of the names of the city of al-Madinah. It also refers to a pearl that’s whole, that hasn’t been touched by making a hole in it to be used in a necklace. It is derived from the AIN-DHAL-R (freedom from blame, etc.) root which is used in many places in the Quran.
