Aphraa is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means âwhiteâ, âfairâ, â13th night of the lunar monthâ (on which the moon is almost full and thus its white light is shining brightly), âfemale gazelle that with white patches of furâ. Aphraa is the name of  two Sahabiyaat (virtuous women who lived at the time of the Prophet ï·ș) that we know of, whose full names were Aphraa bint Ubaid bin Thaalaba and Aphraa bint as-Sakn bin Raafi. It is derived from the AIN-F-R AIN-F-R  (âdustâ, âpowerâ, etc.) root which is used in the Quran in verse 27:39.
